admiral becomes top commander of centcom

i wonder if the assignment of admiral william j fallon, former commander of the pacific fleet, to be top commander of u.s. centcom (responsible for mideast operations), has something to do with the buildup of the carrier fleet in the gulf. he was a navy pilot. perhaps this is for the iran war.
